Why is your company located in Newtown - or why did you decide to grow your business in Newtown?
We used to live in Newtown for many years and have always liked it. When looking for a location we felt that Newtown provided our employees and us a more relaxing and easier commute to work unlike the commute to lower Fairfield county. Our location is a perfect spot to access I84 because we deliver our products to the New York Long Island area, various areas in New York State, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and throughout Connecticut. It is also quite convenient for our vendors to travel to us with tractor trailers and for those customers that wish to pick up their orders.
We liked working with the various Town departments. The Economic Development Dept. assisted us in obtaining tax incentives to help our business grow. The tax assessor has always been great to work with and has been very helpful. Now that we are looking to expand, Planning and Zoning, the building department, Conservation and the other departments have been very supportive and helpful in our quest.
On the financial side Newtown Savings Bank has worked very closely with us in getting our business started and has continued to support us in helping our business grow.
When did your company open for business in Newtown?
We opened our business in Newtown in September, 2007.
Why do you think other businesses might find Newtown to be an attractive location for their company?
The Town's Departments are very sensitive to business' needs. The town has great incentives and the local bank works very well with small businesses. Newtown is a central location to draw employees from the Danbury, Litchfield County, New Haven County and lower Fairfield County areas. Our employees have found the commute to Newtown to be less stressful than having to commute to the lower Fairfield County Area.
