Roads
Automobile, bus and truck access is particularly easy. There are three exits in Newtown from Interstate I-84, the principal east-west artery extending from Pennsylvania through Newtown to Hartford, and Boston via the Massachusetts Turnpike.
Numerous north-south roads intersect I-84 between Newtown and other Connecticut localities. Routes 6, 25 and 34 go directly through Newtown. Other major roads within a few minutes of Newtown include I-684 and I-95, the Merritt Parkway, Saw Mill Parkway (to Westchester County and New York City), Routes 7, 8, 87, and the Taconic Parkway.

Deep-draft terminals at New Haven and Bridgeport provide easy access to the Atlantic Ocean. Rail
The Metro North train stations in Bethel and Danbury, providing service to New York City, are only 10-15 minutes from Newtown.
Housatonic Rail hauls freight from western and northern national gateways into Connecticut, moving it within the state over its own branch line. Service is provided in Newtown on a contract basis.
Amtrak stations are located in Bridgeport, Southport, Westport, New Haven and many other towns within a 25 to 35 minute drive.
Bus
Bus terminals are only 15 to 20 minutes away in Southbury and Danbury, providing passenger and cargo service to many communities in Connecticut, New York, Massachusetts, New Jersey and Rhode Island.
The Housatonic Area Regional Transit (HART) system operates between Hawleyville and downtown Danbury and in the Greater Danbury area. ALL of HART's vehicles are wheelchair accessible.
