Water
United Water Connecticut supplies areas within the town. The company maintains two wells, having a capacity of 1.5 million gallons per day. An existing 500,000 gallon storage facility was recently upgraded. Private wells predominate in outlying areas.

Sewer
A limited public sewer service area is available mainly in the Borough of Newtown and Sandy Hook Center. A sewer service area for industrial/business property near exit 9 off Interstate 84 in Hawleyville is planned. Private septic systems prevail elsewhere.
Electricity, Gas and Telecommunications
Connecticut Light and Power (CL&P) is the largest electric service provider in Newtown serving more than 1.1 million Connecticut customers. CL&P will assist businesses determine their utility solutions through its Business Solutions Center and will provide personalized services concerning rates, incentives and consulting services for energy conscious construction in the Economic and Community Development office.
Yankee Gas provides natural gas to customers in Newtown. AT&T offers competitive rates and reliable telecommunication services. A digital fiber optic telecommunications network is being continuously upgraded.
Cable Television, Radio and Broadcasting
Charter Communications provides homes and businesses with digital cable TV, high-definition TV, basic cable television service, digital music, high speed Internet and related services.
Thirteen local television and radio broadcasting companies serve the area.
