Developing Views 2026 – Vol. 8

SCHEDULING CHANGE: This workshop is being rescheduled to occur on two consecutive Saturday mornings – June 20 and 27 at the Newtown Municipal Center starting at 8:30am. Free light breakfast will now be included. Participants MUST agree to attending both sessions.

Are you a business person, small business owner, or entrepreneur looking for greater creative insights? In today’s business environment, everyone can use a creative edge to elevate their work or small business above and beyond the competition.

That’s why the Newtown Economic and Community office and the Economic Development Commission are co-sponsoring a very unique two-day workshop absolutely free for the first ten qualified applicants.

The workshop, “Mastering Creativity for Success” was developed by Newtown resident Mark E Greene, best-selling author, entrepreneur, former consultant, and ad agency exec, and Dr. Patrick McCord, who holds a PhD in Critical Theory and Cognitive Narratology specializing in integrating neurological science and cognitive psychology into the teaching of reading and writing.

Those accepted into the free workshop must commit to attending the two, five-hour training sessions, scheduled for April 30 and May 1 at the Newtown Municipal Center Council Chambers. Light beverages, coffee, and snacks will be provided by Newtown’s Better Day Cafe.

Greene believes people possess much more creativity than they may realize – simply because their attention and concentration are frequently being diverted.

“In the age of digital distraction, mastering creativity is more difficult, but more important than ever,” Greene said. “Creativity and creative problem solving are the bedrock skills underpinning all advances in business, science, technology, medicine, literature and art.”

Greene’s sessions focus on four key areas:

  • What is Creativity?
  • Why Creativity Matters
  • Roadblocks to Creativity
  • The Four Steps to Mastering Creativity

Workshop attendees will also receive an additional no-cost one on one follow-up via phone or zoom.

John Voket, Newtown Economic and Community Development Director, has been working alongside creative professionals for nearly 50 years.

“No matter how well-seasoned a ‘creative type’ may be, I am always pleasantly surprised when folks who don’t think of themselves as creative suddenly get the spark,” Voket said. “I believe we all have untapped creativity inside us that we can use to help inspire and drive our pursuits to greater heights – so, when my department was offered an opportunity to help present this workshop, we jumped at the chance.”

“Whether it’s that ‘ah-ha’ moment that creates the next great industry, the brainstorm that yields world-changing technology, or even a flash of insight over how to solve a simple word puzzle, creativity is vital to our daily lives,” Greene added.

To learn more and be among the ten participating attendees, contact Greene or leave a voicemail at 203-209-4613 – or send a brief email with your contact information to markegreeneauthor@gmail.com. Priority placement will be given to those who live in, or have a business in Newtown, but anyone is welcome to apply.
