CT Age Well Collaborative honoring Newtown with ‘Wellspring Award’
In mid-April Newtown was notified that the community received the Connecticut Age Well Collaborative’s 2025 Wellspring Award for fostering community inclusivity for every age and every ability in Connecticut.
The Wellspring Awards honors Connecticut-specific, community-based projects, initiatives and policies implemented within the past five years and/or with ongoing, meaningful, relevant community impact. Nominees promote aging, dementia, or disability inclusivity; integrate the voices of individuals with lived experience; and have long-term, systemic community impact going beyond provision of individual services and supports.
Julia Evans Starr, Connecticut Community Care President, and Alyssa Norwood, the Connecticut Age Well Collaborative Director stated in the award letter: “We celebrate your work toward disrupting ageism and ableism, embracing the spirit of community co-creation, and working toward the vision of Connecticut communities where we can all thrive across the lifespan. Thank you for your commitment to creating long-term, systemic community impact.”
Newtown officials including Economic and Community Development Director John Voket, Director of Human Services Natalie Griffith, and Care Navigator/Social Worker Alexa Griffin will be on hand to accept the award at the 2025 Every Age, Every Ability: An Evening of Inspirationevent being planned for Wednesday, June 11 at the New Britain Museum of Art.
West Hartford and Wethersfield joined Newtown as 2025 honorees.
